Contemporary Magazine Journalism

How many times have you read an article in your favorite magazine or newspaper and said to yourself, “I could have written that?”  Well, it’s not as easy it seems, but in this workshop we will learn how magazines work, the kinds of articles they’re looking for, how to develop ideas, how to write a query letter and, once y ou get the assignment, how to research, interview and write the article.  The different kinds of articles discussed include profiles, service pieces, participatory journalism, and personal essays.
